Sectoral Recommendations on Innovation

Stakeholders from around the world share their recommendations on innovation for their different sectors.

Agriculture

Demonstrations of viability: developing model farms that demonstrate the potential of regenerative agriculture and all of its benefits (including financial ones).

Coordination and agreement between different stakeholders in the regen.ag movement as to what constitutes 'regenerative' farming.

Architecture

In the United States, unions have maintained a key role in innovation since they require affiliates to stay current. In order to renew professional licenses, it is mandatory to periodically fulfill a minimum of hours of continuing education. These courses are usually a window into the future, presenting new trends and technological advances that, although not immediately incorporated into practice, offer a preamble to what is to come.

Homogenize cellular or tablet computer platforms; obtain internet services and include it in project costs so that it does not burden the workers.

Discipline in cell phone use for work purposes and avoid alienation and distraction from social media.

Training in the use of tools with proven techniques in other global and efficient companies as well as ancestral gardening techniques eg. Japanese and indigenous peasant culture.

Encouraging safety in the workplace; use of personal protection equipment and protection of tourists and property.

Team building using social media wapp group

Banking and Financial Services

Venture Capital

Political will and sensitization to investors or potential investors.

I have a somewhat drastic perspective on what is needed: I believe that a disaster of any kind (economic, natural, political, etc.) can ignite the spark that is needed so that changes in general begin to develop. On the other hand, something that can incentivize innovation is the investment in research, but because of the aforementioned, I do not think it will happen in the short term.

Some examples can be seen in countries such as Mexico or Colombia in the 90s with the issue of cartels and drugs. In the end, the young people who did not want to finish like some of their friends have dedicated themselves to innovate and this has taken them to another point of innovation.

Culture

We need spaces that function as labs and where actors of the artistic sector and programmers come together, or ideas incubators.

International Cooperation

To start, to try. This is why several institutions and countries are sponsoring with their own resources to showcase laboratories or initiatives that deliver results that encourage the innovative thinking.

Education
Business

The interest, motivation and attractiveness of innovation exist. But they can not be translated into innovation actions given the need to:

  • Greater access to financing.

Environment

More than anything else, the systematization of processes and the willingness to apply them are needed: in fact, many of the proposals and measures necessary to innovate have already been studied and proposed in the recent past, but sometimes end up adorning a shelf or as bits lost in a computer.

Political Parties

Progress has been made but it is always through willingness and alliances between sectors that innovative programs are established.

Recycling
  • Government: The creation of clear policies and laws that guarantee the integrity and formality of the sector; incentives oriented to investment and taxes incentives as taxes are often redundant in the sector.
  • Civil Society: Empowerment, act as we should, fulfill our part by supporting existing programs, teach our future generations to take care of the environment and dispose of their waste correctly. Take our waste to collection centers, demand from government entities the correct and continuous disposal of waste. Unconditional support for the companies and people dedicated to waste management and work hand in hand with them in campaigns and plans.
  • Businesses: To think of sustainable products, packaging and designs that facilitate recycling tasks. To support and economically contribute in favor of those who daily clean the environmental liabilities generated by them.
  • Guilds and Trade Unions: To stop obstructing the development of the sector through radical measures. To stop thinking about the good of their pockets or a small group, but about the progress of the sector that will translates in the future to its own advance.
Civil Society

Encourage the culture of creativity in all sectors, at all levels. Promoting and promoting questioning and diversity of thought, as a valuable tool for enrichment, integration and creation of shared value proposals under complementary approaches.

The stakeholders need to be aware of the importance of innovating in an increasingly changing environment, with a vision of economic, social and technological trends. Enabling innovation requires self-assessments and strategic projections from both civil society and the public and private sectors.

Mainly, it is necessary to encourage the technical training of the non-profit organizations so that their hired and / or volunteer staff can understand the value of the innovation.

In the area of Social Communication, Communication for Change, a non-profit organization will not survive if it does not innovate its social impact strategies and does not use the appropriate tools to reach its public (both donors and the final beneficiary population).

Technology

We need leaders who are concerned with fostering and investing in a culture of innovation within their organizations, empowering their members to share ideas, and allowing these ideas to be evaluated and implemented correctly.

We need more professionals who are supporters of the creation of systems and processes to encourage innovation within their organizations.

The introduction of a professional education in matters of corporate entrepreneurship for students of professional careers in different areas, not only limited to business.

And, of course, we must reduce financial and regulatory barriers that do not allow high-potential ventures to create disruption in the local market.

"Early adopter" companies. I think it is impossible to move forward and make sense of innovation if, on the other side, we find companies that only buy "finished products". From the business point of view, these tests must be understood as an investment, not as an expense and risk as part of learning. No matter how much private or public capital is invested in projects (startups, and things like that), nothing will happen until the business fabric at all levels does not bet on trying and giving entrepreneurs an opportunity in real situations.

You can spend a year carefully studying how a car works, you can create an augmented reality application to simulate the interior of a vehicle, make incredible presentations explaining its operation and passing certifications, but when you really learn is when you sit in the driver's seat and you have to take out the vehicle parked on a hill at night while raining.

Telecommunications

Our sector is always and constantly innovating.
